Getting Started - The Process of Making a Deal
As with all journeys, the trip begins with the first step. With the MCIDC, the process begins with listening.
An individual or group with one or more of the following needs usually makes the first contact:
- Find a location, expand, or relocate from their existing location
- Establish the connections necessary for financial support
- Acquire support for a technological need
- Find a solution to a production problem
In this stage we listen and gather all of the information defining the requirements.
When analyzing the requirements several activities are conducted simultaneously. A search of our database is conducted to locate the availability and the specific details of a building, property, or site. A review of all MCIDC funding programs is initiated to see what program(s) may be suitable in the situation. Since MCIDC has more than 39 funding programs available to businesses in Montgomery County, each solution is customized to the specific requirements of the company or individual. In addition, MCIDC's in-house partners, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center, and the World Trade Center of Philadelphia will be referred to the individual or business to discuss in further detail the particular needs of the business.
The next step is to address the financial aspect of the building, expansion, and/or relocation activities. MCIDC will assist in the preparation and submission of the necessary funding applications to the appropriate agencies. MCIDC will schedule the necessary meetings with members of the Governor's Action Team (GAT), municipal officials, and conduct site tours if necessary. From start to project completion, MCIDC acts as a liaison with agency officials to keep the process moving and completed in a timely manner.
A completed Single Application for Assistance form begins the process. This one application allows businesses and individuals to apply simultaneously for one or more of the Commonwealth's economic and community development financial assistance programs. MCIDC is the point of contact for every Single Application submitted in Montgomery County. A member of our staff will answer your questions regarding the Single Application and provide general information on the available programs. They will help with coordination of resources, technical assistance and achievement of your company's goals.
The role of MCIDC is to be an active participant contributing to the positive state of economic development in Montgomery County. Our goal is to assist you by providing financing and technical assistance that will enable your business to grow and expand and create jobs for Pennsylvanians.
We look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
